Okay lovelies, it’s time for a serious chat. Lately we have been having immense funtimes, relishing in the joys of bedazzled ladies in various pastel hues and flowery arrangements. But as you may already know, this adventure is all for a cause. I am trying to raise $25,000 for NAPCAN: preventing child abuse and neglect in Australia…and can only do so with YOUR help.
Sunday marks the beginning of National Child Protection week, so now is a good time to hit you with some facts…(please have a read!) and let you know why we need to help out
Last year over 30,000 Australian children were proven to have been abused or neglected.
Hundreds of children are killed, and tens of thousands are psychologically and/or physically damaged each year
Child abuse is known to increase the risks of:
• substance addiction
• crime
• homelessness
• poor physical health
• educational failure
• poor employability prospects
• depression and suicide
During 2008-09, there were 339,454 reports of suspected child abuse and neglect made to state and territory authorities, which is an increase of 6.9% from the 317,526 reports made in 2007-08
The total number of reports (of notifications received in 2008-09) across Australia was 54,621.
So SERIOUSLY, if you like this site and have been following the frocks please make donation…however small! If you are brutally strapped for pennies then please spread the word that this project is going on! It would be fantastic to reach a target that could really make a difference.
Thanks for your ears! They’re lovely!
xoxo

Congrats Rachel, yet again – another gorgeous dress. National Child Protection Week – a special week to raise awareness. Thanks for putting the information about child abuse and neglect in Australia on the website. I hope more young people hear about your imakeyouwearit challenge and help you to reach your target.
