dress/day316…a pleasing start to the day!

There is nothing like starting the week off with a little bit of gentle mint and mauve!
To be honest, I am probably going to try and fill my week of frocks with as many tranquil colours as possible, as I am bound to find myself a powerfully busy lady in the next few days. This Saturday is the latest shoot for Yellowcake, and as such I have SO many little thangs to get in order beforehand! Whilst there is the obvious making of dresses to be done, I have some fun accessories in mind that I would like to get made for the shoot – and need to get a stern head start on finalising all the props for the actual styling ideas I have in mind too.
Also, there is of course the ever-creeping-closer date of March 17th, my first properly grown up Yellowcake show/Mel Stringer exhibit, to organise too. This week however, I am most excited about seeing the invitations Mel has designed for the event. I can’t wait to get them printed and pop them in delightfully spangled envelopes. The promise of a pom-pommed invitation to hand out is just exciting me too much for words.
However, if overcome with anxiety, there is always this picture of kissing bunnies that I can turn to:

Ahhhh, I feel calmer already. xo
Dress 315!

I thought up today’s frock whilst on a lengthy car trip.
As I looked out the window at the firey sun and the magnificent blue sky, I started to think about how I could turn this heavenly combination into a dress. After some thinking, I insisted on getting dropped off in the city on the way home, so that I could head straight into Lincraft and buy what I needed to make it happen. An afternoon later, and the above frock is what happened. Delight.

Thinking about dress fun in the sun. xo xo xo
313…green! and 314…

A Satdy frock! xo

Friday’s frock! I popped it into this post as I realised I only uploaded it to facebook on friday…woops – can’t be neglecting this fancy website! xo
dress 312…

After a lovely night out eating tiny sliders and drinking apple ciders with some delightful humans, I headed home to get stuck into making today’s dress. My recent trip to San Francisco was particularly inspirational for tonight’s design. I found all the colours used in the suburban architecture there to be incredibly beautiful. Naturally I adored their fondness for using pastels, and just generally loved seeing different (yet complimentary) coloured houses lined up side by them side by side along the streets..like these ones:

Aren’t they pretty!? I THOUGHT SO! SO much so that later on, when we were at Denver airport, I found myself sketching some designs of simple, two-toned dresses that could capture this basic, yet beautiful, trope of San Francisco housing. Needless to say, I am therefore pretty excited about tonight’s dress coming into existence. It is making me think of Sanny Franny again – and I wouldn’t mind skooting back there at all…
Anywho, I must skoot to bed. I should probably get up early tomorrow to get some more stitching done before work. Will the kookiness ever end?
Kyisses!
dress/day 311…with a hint of trance…

So tonight’s dress has been a long time a-coming. I have been wanting to try this ‘white-to-colour’ flower dress for a while, and so this evening thought i’d give it a whirl. I started at about 6pm and now it is just nearing 1am…so it was a fair slog. Such a slog, in fact, that I believe somewhere in between 8pm and 12am I slipped into a casual trance – as time seemed to totally fly by in a whirl! Nonetheless, I really like how it turned out. I think I may try it again in some other colours? Anywho, for now I must away to bed as I am POOPED.
P.S Have this photo of my jelly shoe bonanza from today! xo
