Over the last week I have been making dozens of handmade paper hearts, jewelled pom poms, and splendid, gingham confetti dots.  Today I headed into Verge Girl in Elizabeth Arcade to install these wonders into their beautiful store, and had the most wonderful time doing so!

Boasting a range of wonderful party dresses and super-cool outfit options, Verge Girl is a feast for the eyes.  Independently run by two Brisbane sister’s, the store is clearly a reflection of their impeccable buying and fearless, youthful style.  All in all, it was an absolute treat to have the opportunity to spend my morning there, and I encourage girlies to scoot along quick-smart to check it out for a solid swoon!

For ages I have been doodling pictures of dresses covered in tumbling, sequinned hearts.  So, this week I finally put needle to thread and concocted this little bejewelled number that consists of tea-cake frills and dozens of bedazzled hearts.  The perfect little cocktail number, I’m actually a little jealous of the lady who gets the winning  bid on this frock in June…as I would love to have a skip around town in it.

I am so near to finishing this swell, pink, blossom dress!  Unfortunately I ran out of fabric to complete the back of the frock (8 metres of hand cut flowers wasn’t enough!) but one more trip to the fabric shop next week and this pretty will be on its way to completion.  Stay tuned for the finished product! x

Over the last couple of days I have been madly sewing this little number, which reminds me of paper cut-outs and confetti bombs!  I still have a few little sequins to sew on, but overall I feel it is coming along nicely so thought I’d give a little peak!

I have pleasantly begun work on the very first ‘i make. you wear it’ collection, which will be raising funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).  This charity does brilliant work supporting and assisting those afflicted with MND and I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to support them through this newest project.

I have given myself 2 months to complete this collection, which means that it will be up and ready for bidding on Friday the 14th of June.  Lovelies will have one week to bid on items, and the winners will be able to make their donation directly through the MND charity website…but I’ll explain that in more detail closer to the release date.

In the meantime, we’ll be filling this blog with insights into the development of the first range.  Below is the first glimpse of one of the pieces I have been working on…and I can’t wait to show you more!

…a whole year in fact since I finished my 365 ‘dress-a-day’ project.  I knew it would only be a matter of time before I returned to this world of frock-oriented challenges, and after a year of recovering from the last project (yes, it required a year) it feels good to be back for another round of fun.

So much has happened over the last year.  I got a puppy (Daphne the sausage dog…see below), I launched a new clothing label, I moved out of home, and even made over 500 pom poms for a festive little art show last month! But whilst many things have happened, I have very much missed my crafty adventures and thus very soon I will be launching a fresh ‘i make. you wear it.’ project.  Over the course of the next year, I will be creating hand-made, bi-monthly collections that contain a complete range of one off pieces for people to buy, with the proceeds heading straight to charity (YAY).  There will be 6 collections in total and each one will be in support of a different charity…the first of which will be announced at the starting point of the project on April the 19th.

So to my lovely followers of yesteryear, I hope you enjoy the next installment of my dress-making adventures! It’s real good to be back!
