Black and White Bette

I went to ikea looking for a new sofa, and instead left with what became the base of this dress…

Blueday Dress

Hello again! I was kidnapped by another state this week (for a final hurrah before the official start of this project), but after some immense frivolity I have returned to delight in dandy dress times once more….

So, now that we’ve got our awkward ‘reuniting hugs’ out of the way, and have cupped eachother’s elbows in online delight…let’s chat potatoes!

This dress is made of a mixture of blue damask silk, green tartan, and bright blue sequinned detailing.  This dress is a bit different from the others I have loaded up, in that it was not made as a trial for this project.  On the contrary, it was made in a mad rush for a party (my B to the DAY)  last September.  I have nonetheless included it in this photo world as it was one of the pieces that made me think “Shizen Lorden, I can make a frock fast.”.

Hope you likey. xoxo

Bits and Pieces Dress

My range of size 24 Miller’s shirts have never looked so classy…ripped up and re-fashioned to form this little number, I cut up the fabric from these shirts after deciding I should probably never wear them as they were again. Whilst I feel the ‘moo-moo’ will have its time again, I hope this trial piece speaks to you…right now.

‘Take Me Out’ Dress

This is Edwina wearing the ‘Take Me Out’ dress.  To create this number I started by making pink-fan flowers from some delightful patterned fabric, and then individually detailing them with gold beads. Then I cut up the fabric from my sister’s silk formal skirt (sorry Laura) to make the base and topped it all off with a strip of  flapper-esque tassling around the bust.  All I can say is: woo.

Note To You: if you haven’t tried chicken and avocado sushi, you haven’t lived.

Layer Cake Play Dress

This is one of my favourite types of dresses to make – the Layer Cake Dress.  Made from a whole bunch of old shirts and excess fabric bits, I funned it up with some hand sewn sequin writing and hearts. Not real hearts though…that would be innapro-pro — Oooo! Rhyming. Loves it.

Trial Dress Times

Over the next weeks I am going to keep you all posted on the trial dresses that I make in preparation for the start of the project on August 7.

This little number is worn by the lovely Betty and makes me think of Fairy Floss – probably because it’s pink…God I’m an edgy thinker…I’m pretty sure my brain is comprised solely of sharp corners.

Holy Hokey! It’s a blog too?!?

HELLO HUMANS!

So…This Website is officially launched!

Here we begin the epic jaunt that is me: Rahool (hi there!) trying to raise $25,000 for NAPCAN: Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect in Australia by making a dress every Saturday night for 4 months, and uploading the whole process onto this fancy website/blog (a cyber kit-kat of amazement).

So please, donate to the cause! Follow this site! Get involved!  Wear flowers in your hair!

Dig you all!

xoxo
