The ‘Yellowcake’ label was started by Rachel Burke in September 2010. After seeing the designs created by her during the ‘i make. you wear it.’ project, Rachel was flooded with requests from friends and supporters for custom made garments/original pieces like those they saw her create each week. These requests inspired her to launch ‘Yellowcake’, a label separate from the ‘i make. you wear it’ and ‘i make my day’ projects.
‘Yellowcake’ is whimsical, eccentric, flirty and recognisable. It seeks to dress girls in the frocks of their dreams, drawing upon literary and childhood experiences to inspire one-of-a-kind creations.

Hi
I love your dresses and your ‘i make. you wear it’ and ‘i make my day’ projects. You are an inspiration.
I would love to purchase some dresses from you and was wondering how i would go about this. Are there stockists in Brisbane?
Keep up the great work

Dear Rachel, Your dresses are totally amazing! I train international models and beauty pageant winners and would love to work with you and buy your dresses. I am having a large fashion show next year and would love to see your designs in a runway/catwalk show. You can accomplish anything when you believe in yourself. Thanks so much for your inspiration! Bonjour!
As an schoolgirl aspiring to be a designer myself, I’d like to let you know that you have been such an inspiration!
I’ve seen YELLOWCAKE at Princess Polly multiple times and many of my friends are aching to wear your designs to the semi.
I picked up the West End magazine this morning to see the article on you and thought to myself “She has talent!”.
I love your style and am SO glad to see something artistic coming from Brisbane!! as I’m often disappointed with how little this city is involved in the arts.
I have four questions…
1. Where do you get your exquisite fabric?
2. How do you make such cute ornate little ruffles, and so many! like the new used on the picture of the logo for YELLOWCAKE above?
3. How did you get sponsored?
And finally…
4.Im not sure how old you are, but if you are out of school and have been to uni/tafe etc. where did you go and what courses did you do?
Thanks for sharing your talent
Hannah
